We are good enough, even perfect to God. We don't need to do anything else to earn God's favor or acceptance. He is right here, waiting for us by His grace, because of what He has done. His grace is sufficient for you, for His power is made perfect in weakness. When I am weak, then He is strong. (from 2 Corinthians 12:9-10)
If our own righteousness was to be graded, we all would receive "scores" less than 100% - imperfect scores (Romans 3:23). But Jesus has "received a perfect score", including in the time He lived on earth. God will only accept a "perfect score", to allow a person into heaven, so our own scores would fail. But God lets us choose to take Jesus' "score", His righteousness, instead of our own. We can show God Jesus' "score", instead of our own, "pass", and get into heaven. As His children, we are now seen with "perfect scores". However, though we still have Jesus' perfect score, we may still attempt to hold our own score up to God instead of Jesus'. We may do this out of self-righteousness, pride, ignorance, or for some other reason. We need to concentrate on Jesus' perfect "score" instead of doing it on our own.
