Here's a story about how Josh and I met a couple years ago, in case you would like to read about it :)
Josh and I met in January
2012. We actually were in the same homeschool group together, but I don't ever
remember seeing him before (he is four years older than me, so that might be
why). Ironically, I already knew his younger sister and his mom because of gym classes.
When I was at IUK for my second semester, I had already taken biology and had
to take another science class, and decided to try the physics class even though
I didn't do very well when I took it in high school. Josh also needed to take a
science class and although he couldn't major in physics at IUK like he was
hoping to, he still decided to take the introductory physics course.
The first
day of physics class, we all introduced ourselves and shared our interests and
hobbies. I remember thinking that Josh was the cutest young man in the class. J
He was thinking similar thoughts about me, but he actually thought I was
married because I wore rings on each of my ring fingers (which I did partially
to keep most young men away from me…lol). We didn't talk to each other then.
But the next week at the third class (January 19th), I somehow
forgot to put my rings on. We had a lab project to do that day, so Josh asked
to be in a group with me and a couple other girls. He walked out of the room to
get something, and my physics teacher asked me where I had attended high
school. I said that I was homeschooled, and then Josh walked in the room and
said that he was also homeschooled. We started talking after that and talked
the whole time in the class. I went home very happy to have made a friend. I
told my mom about it.
After the next class, 5 days later, Josh was talking to
me again while we were walking out to the parking lot in the evening. I said
"see you later" to him, then he asked if I would want to do something
with him sometime and mentioned that we could go bowling. I was very surprised
but tried to appear calm. I said that would be nice, and we exchanged phone
numbers. We went bowling a couple weeks later and went for ice cream (on
February 1st). I was trying not to think of it as a date… but some
of my family members thought otherwise.
On February 9th before
physics class, I had a speech class and learned how to make origami cubes. I
made one, and decided to give it to Josh since I didn’t have anything better to
do with it. So, I asked him in class what the volume of a cube was, and then
gave it to him. It just so happened that the next class was on Valentine's Day.
I kept imagining that he would leave me a note on my chair with poetry he
wrote. At the beginning of the next class, he gave me an origami cube that he
made. I felt awkward and embarrassed because there were other people in the
class that were probably watching us, but I tried to appear calm and talked
about how he actually put his cube together correctly, unlike mine. At the end
of class, he told me there was something inside the cube, so I looked inside
and saw a note with poetry he had written! I read it as soon as I got home, and
he had written two poems specifically for me. J
We got to know each
other more in February, and it seemed that he only wanted to be friends,
because he kept saying things like that. So I figured he didn't like me in a
romantic way. I was thinking he would just be my friend, as well. But on March
1st, we were standing outside after class in the dark for a long
time (it was so cold! It makes no sense why we were out there so long when our
feet were numb from the cold) and at one point, he was talking, then paused for
a long time. I was about to say something, but for some reason I looked at his
face, and thought he was about to say something. So, I waited for him to speak.
When he did, he said "I like you". I was so surprised and hid my face
in my hands. I had no idea he was going to say that. We talked for a lot longer
about things after that. Eventually, I went home in a dazed state.
We started
to get to know each other after that, and I saw the good character qualities
that Josh has and prayed about it a lot, and then knew that I wanted to marry
him. We got engaged almost 2 years later in the physics classroom where we
first met. We get along so well and agree about many important things. I'm very
blessed to have him as a future husband and am very excited for the future! J
